James Domengeaux

Hello my dear friends in Belgium,

My name is James Domengeaux, the founding president of the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana, known as CODOFIL. Since 1969, CODOFIL has been fighting for the preservation of the French language and culture in Louisiana. A few years later, the cities of Namur and Lafayette became sister cities. Many residents of our two cities have become friends; students have come to study in each of our cities; numerous projects and exchanges have taken place, most often in our beloved French language, which our African, Belgian, Canadian, and French ancestors passed down to us.

We invite you to come visit us in Lafayette. You are and will always be welcome in our home.

Thank you very much.
